Alexei Anatolievich Navalny is a lawyer, an activist against corruption, and a politician. He is also the leader of the Russian opposition. He’s worth ten million dollars. The Wall Street Journal says that Vladimir Putin is most afraid of Navalny.
Russian Resistance Coordination Chamber:
He organised protests, ran for office, and pushed for changes to stop corruption in Russia, especially in President Vladimir Putin’s administration. He is an individual from the Russian resistance Coordination chamber, the organizer behind the Counter Debasement Establishment (FBK), and the head of the “Russia Representing things to come” party. When he went back to Russia, he was arrested and sentenced to nine years in prison in March 2022.
Alexei Navalny Biography:
Alexei Anatolievich was born on June 4, 1976, in the Russian city of Butyn to Anatoly Ivanovich and Lyudmila Ivanovna. Son of an army communications officer, he grew up in different military towns around Moscow and finished his summer with his grandmother in the countryside near Chernobyl, Ukraine. Alexei Navalny will be 45 years old in the year 2022.

He went to school at the People’s Friendship University of Russia and got a law degree there in 1998. Before he went to the State Finance Academy and got his master’s degree in 2001. In 2010, he spent a semester there studying as part of Yale University’s World Fellows programme.

Business:

In November 2010, he released a report that said $4 billion had been stolen from the oil transport company Transneft while a major pipeline was being built. A few weeks later, Navalny started the website RosPil.net. It asked people to look at government contracts that were available to the public and look for signs of wrongdoing.
Created the Anti-Corruption Foundation:
The next year, Navalny started the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) to look into how state money was being wasted. The results of these investigations were shown in YouTube videos that often made members of Vladimir Putin’s United Russia party look bad. The government finally did something about the FBK. It was officially called a “extremist” group in June 2021, and the group broke up soon after.
Protests against the Russian Elections:
When Navalny was arrested in December 2011 for leading protests against the Russian elections, he became known all over the world. He got young people to vote for him, but he also brought attention to himself by calling United Russia the “party of crooks and thieves.”

In 2013, Navalny was indicted for stealing $500,000 from a state-owned lumber company. After escape of jail on bail, he ran for mayor of Moscow but lost. In the fall of that year, he and his brother Oleg were arrested again on charges that they had cheated two more Russian companies. Russia Supreme Court:
In 2016, when Russia’s Supreme Court overturned his original criminal conviction, Navalny said he wanted to run for president. But his campaign was ruined when he was taken back to court and given another suspended sentence for the same charges from 2013.

In July 2019, Navalny was arrested for leading more protests and put in jail. In response, he started the “Smart Voting” website to draw attention to the opposition leaders who are best able to beat United Russia candidates at the polls.
Assassination Attempt and Imprisonment:
In August 2020, Navalny got sick on a plane to Moscow, which forced the plane to make a calamity landing in the city of Omsk. He was finally allowed to see a doctor in Berlin, Germany, where it was found that a Russian nerve agent called Novichok had been used to poison him.
Federal Security Service:
When Navalny got out of the hospital a month later, he worked with news outlets and the London-based investigation group Bellingcat to find out who from Russia’s Federal Security Service had tried to kill him (FSB). He even got one of the security agents to talk to him on the phone and tricked him into saying that the nerve agent had been put on the target’s underwear.
Anti-Corruption Foundation:
Navalny was arrested instantly he got back to Moscow in January 2021 for breaking the terms of his probation. In March 2022, he was sent to a maximum-security prison for nine years because he stole money from his Anti-Corruption Foundation while he was on a hunger strike.
Awards and Honors:
Navalny was put forward for the Nobel Peace Prize early in 2021. At the same year, the European Parliament gave him the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. The activist was the focus of the 2022 documentary Navalny, which looks at his time recovering in Germany after being poisoned and his trip back to Russia to go to jail.
